Dudes, I feel so dang lucky. Who the heck chose me to live this amazing life? Lately, I’ve been reflecting on everything good that has been happening to me. There has been so much good.

To quote my beloved Britney Spears, I have been stuck in the phase of “not a girl, not yet a woman” for FOREVER. When I was 10, I didn’t feel like a kid. When I was 20, I didn’t feel like an adult. It was like I was in purgatory of age and how to act accordingly. It was stupid. Good, but stupid. And, from what I remember of my Catholic School education, purgatory is where you go until you’ve learned from your mistakes. It’s like being sent to your room to “think about what you’ve done”. And while you’re stuck in this stupid state, you’re expected to make mistakes and reflect and learn about how to be the very best version of yourself - so that when you finally make it out to the good side, you can give credit to nobody but yourself for all the good you’re doing, and in return, all the good you receive.

And I’ll tell you, the good side is great. I AM WOMAN. I feel confident, and proud, and happy and humble - I have done good, and for now, I get to relish in the bliss that I feel entirely deserving of.

New City is amazing. New Job is amazing. New Apartment is amazing. My best friend just heard back from a fantastic Internship opportunity, meaning she’ll be joining me soon in this New City, with a New Job and a New Apartment too. It’s all so flippin’ amazing!

And we just keep saying to each other, “Howw. Whyy. What did we do to get so much good?”

But we know exactly what we did - we worked hard, we did good, and we made it happen for ourselves.

I want to high five, and hug and smooch every darn person I see on the street. I want to share this feeling and spread the enthusiasm that my own life has provided me - that I have provided for my own life. It’s amazing! And all you have to do is go out there & make it so! Get what you want!

I spent last weekend in New York City - is there any possible better way to close off my University career? Doubt it. I wrote my last exam, drove home to my parents, slept, and hopped aboard a packed bus first thing the next morning. This was the first time we drove to NYC, and I couldn’t believe how close it was! Only 8 hours!

My Mom had organized an Arts trip for her students, and I was lucky enough to score the free seat of a “chaperone”. I had done NYC a couple of times before, but this trip was completely packed with tourist attractions - it was so fun!

Thanks Momma for letting me tag along! It was a great way to celebrate!

We were sitting on my bed in this empty-walled room; boxes piled high, one room already moved out completely - our very last night as a family in this house - and so casually, my roommate said:

“We made a home.”

(Ugh. Cue the tears.)

We did. 4 years ago, we all met. 3 years ago, we helped each other move into this cheaper than cheap student house, and together, we made a home. Our mismatched dishes, tri-coloured furniture, and busted front door. The late nights (early mornings?) crouched on our kitchen floor around a pot of KD. The shower schedule. Our chore wheel. Longwood’s annual Christmas parties. April fools. Centipedes. Together, we made a home.

Tonight is our last night as a family in this home, and even though we’re all moving on to do amazing things - careers, grad school, travelling - it’s the closing of a seriously legendary chapter. And it’s really going to stink.

Last week I got to do a really fun photoshoot with the Brittany and Lynne, co-founders of the new graphic design company BigLittleCreative.ca.

It wasn’t anything too fancy but it was full of laughs and creative thinkers, so who wouldn’t have a good time right? :)

You really should check out their site though. They’re two of the most creative and inspirational minds I’ve had the delight of working with and I have no doubt they’re going to do big things down the road.

(It’s not often that I step into a political conversation. It’s not often that I feel my expertise outshines that of my neighbours’. But today, I know that my voice is valid, and I feel like I’ve got something important to say. )

KONY 2012.

Do you realize what this video campaign has done? It reached over one million views in 12 hours. That’s one million people who learned a name that had never been heard. One million people who experienced a “whoa” moment, and then clicked to share. Just by clicking a button, we became a part of the change. Just by spreading the word of who Kony is, we became a part of the change. We all agree that he is a bad guy. We all agree that what he’s doing with the L.R.A. needs to be stopped. It is our job as humans to stand up and speak out when there is wrong being done. I will not sit back. I will not watch this happen. I will put my hand in, and do the best I can.

And, it should be that easy - to just act, because you know it’s the right thing to do. But, what irks me is that not everybody sees it the same way.

I’ve grown up knowing that I am so incredibly fortunate. My life has been handed to me with relative ease. Today, Melissa said it best on behalf of her family:

“We can think of nothing that we want or need in life except what is right in front of us. That’s the dream isn’t it? For any of us? To have enough. So what now? Do we just sit back and keep receiving? Stuffing our proverbial pockets with this love, joy, prosperity?”

And the answer is no. We do something. Because although it came easy to us, it doesn’t come easy to everyone. This is the generation that has the most potential to influence change. We are connected. Through Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Tumblr, we are all connected. It takes one click to be a part of that change. It doesn’t have to cost any money, and you don’t even have to get up from your seat. You just have to be aware, and be willing to share what you know. And if there’s time to write critiques against something that we all agree needs to be stopped, then there’s time to click and learn about it. Share it. Like it. Talk about it. Make Kony Famous.

This is the generation the world has been waiting for. We have the power to create change. Why sit back when you can step up?

*Edit* - Being a part of the change doesn’t mean you have to participate through Invisible Children. Do your research. Make an informed decision. I fight alongside Me to We, and always will.
